EEG auditory lateralization

Complete EEG processing pipeline — ICA artifact removal, Morlet time-frequency analysis, N100/P200 ERP extraction — demonstrating contralateral auditory processing.

A complete EEG processing pipeline built with MNE-Python on the MNE sample dataset, to study how the brain processes sounds — and in particular hemispheric lateralization.

The raw signal is filtered, cleaned of eye-blink artifacts with independent component analysis, re-referenced to the average and cut into epochs. Time-frequency power from 1 to 50 Hz is computed with Morlet wavelets, and event-related potentials are extracted by averaging.

The results show a clear N100 peak around 100 ms, strong low-frequency synchronization after the stimulus, and left-ear stimulation producing a higher amplitude in the right temporal lobe — the crossed wiring of the auditory pathways.
